What Accessories are best for my body type?

If you have read the "About us" section on the website you will already know that I am someone who wouldn't describe themselves as - Body Confident. My love of accessories actually came from feeling uncomfortable in my clothes and needing pretty little bits to make me feel better about my look.
We now have so many choices when it comes to accessories that you might think that feeling and looking good would be simpler. If only it was that easy.
There are some basic accessory tips we can all follow but if you really want to look your best it's worth understanding that accessorising for your body type can make a big difference to your look and your confidence.
Here's some very simple guidance on how you can make accessories work for you.
  • Petite Frames: For those of you with petite frames, you should focus on accessories that add visual interest without overwhelming your proportions. Consider delicate jewellery pieces such as dainty necklaces, thin chains with a pendant, small stud earrings, and slim bracelets that complement your smaller stature. Want to look taller? Belts worn at the waist can create the illusion of a longer torso and high-waisted bottoms can elongate the legs. Finish off by choosing smaller handbags or clutches that won't overpower your frame. Crossbody bags or mini backpacks can also be great options for hands-free convenience without overpowering the outfit.
  • Accentuating Curves: For ladies with curvier body types, you need accessories that enhance your natural curves and draw attention to your best features. Try statement belts to cinch the waist and create an hourglass silhouette. Bold jewellery pieces like statement necklaces or cuff bracelets will add visual interest to your outfits. Experiment with asymmetrical or draped styles that flatter your curves and choose handbags with structured shapes to balance your proportions. Tote bags or satchels with defined edges can also complement curves without adding bulk.
  • Elongating the Silhouette: Want a slimmer look? Focus on accessories that create vertical lines and draw the eye upward. Long pendant necklaces, vertical drop earrings, and scarves worn in a vertical manner can all help achieve this effect. Wearing heels or shoes with pointed toes adds height and elongates the legs. Nude-colored shoes can also create the illusion of longer legs by blending seamlessly with the skin tone. When it comes to choosing your handbag go with vertical lines or elongated shapes that complement your desired silhouette. Stay away from slouch style bags, opt for clutch bags or envelope-style purses that will compliment the elongating effect of vertical accessories. You can also try layering clothing pieces such as cardigans or blazers to create vertical lines and visually lengthen the body.
Whatever shape and regardless of what look you are trying to achieve I hope the above has some helpful tips for you to try. Do remember though it's important to embrace your individuality and celebrate the beauty of your body, regardless of size or shape.
